The Bridge

The source of inspiration for this painting was a specific bridge. The bridge over the river is a symbol of the departure and transience of human existence, on the contrary, the water symbolizes life and the possibility of a new beginning. I was fascinated by the idea that specific people with their life stories actually walked the bridge at the time. The painting is painted in an expressive manuscript, which expresses a difficult existential situation.

This is a cycle of figural paintings that depict portraits of fictional characters, that were thrown into anonymity either by war, their life situation or other circumstances.
